How many years of experience to you have teaching piano?
I’ve been teaching professionally since 1976.
How many student do you teach?
I presently have about 50 students I teach weekly.
Do you teach families of multiple age children?
Yes.
Can you schedule students families with multiple children back
to back?
Yes.
Can you schedule students during the day to accommodate
home schoolers?
Yes.
At what age can lessons start?
I’ve been very successful with 4 year old students. In special
circumstances I’ve been successful teaching 3 year old students.
What has been your oldest student?
I’ve taught the delightful grandmother of one of my young
students who was in her 80’s.
Why is learning to play the piano beneficial compared to other
instruments?
Research has been done on the human brain. It has been
found that THE COMPLETE BRAIN was stimulated when
playing the piano. Playing the piano gives the mind a thorough
workout in all its myriad functions.
NOTE: I understand that piano lessons satisfies the State
of Pennsylvania music requirement for homeschoolers.
Do you perform?
Yes. I’ve been Music Director of my church for many years. I’ve
also played in conventions as the piano accompanist on various
occasions.
I also compose religious music and have a published CD on
various works I’ve written.
Have you served in any leadership capacities?
I have been founder of three chapters for the National Guild of
Piano Teachers. I’ve served for several years as one of their
Guild Judges judging their yearly Auditions. I’ve also served as
President and Vice President of local branches of other
nationally known music organizations.
Anything else?
My writings have also been published in Keyboard Companion,
a leading journal specializing in piano pedagogy.
I have also written numerous books I’ve designed for teaching
my students. I’ve also written scores of solos that has been
performed by my students in various contests and musical
festivals.
